The Missing Librarian of Secomber

Uktar, 11th month in the Year of Rogue Dragons, 1373 DR.

Bronwyn, Amiar & M’ssema.

Seeking answers to our personal quests, we traveled to Secomber, where it was said a learned sage could help. Upon arrival, we learned the Priest Librarian as he was called, Murroh of Denier, had been missing from his home for almost a day. Though the locals did not know where he had gone, they told us that the local tax collector, Rugen Phimister, has recently died. Townsfolk said he died of heart attack after trying to carry too much weight of the town’s gold. The man was greedy to the core, and word is that he overtaxed the people and lived and ate handsomely on this money until his demise. He was buried without blessings in the cemetary along with two travelers that died of plague.

By Beshaba's twisted fate, death had not diminished this former tax collector's greed, and the man became a horrific monster who terrorized Secomber from beyond the grave. We entered the underground tunnels beneath the cemetery, vanquishing ghouls as they feasted, and came upon the lord of the warren, Rugen himself. We surprised the Ghast as he sat before a grisly banquet and destroyed the creature. Among the findings was the priest himself, unharmed but for a few minor injuries. Were we to arrive a few hours later the man would have met with a fate not worthy of even the disciples of Cyric.

Murroh the Priest-Librarian sent fervent prayers to Deneir on each of our behalfs. He hoped to answer the questions that plague us. We also inquired as to the whereabouts of Ovak.
